Insurance Shopping Made Easier

If Bay State residents' heads are still spinning from major changes to auto and health insurance rules last year, a new web site from the state Division of Insurance may make things a little easier.

AgentFinder will let users search for insurance agents and products based on geographic, company and product criteria.

The site connects customers with a database of the state's 70,000 licensed insurance professionals.
Agents on the list sell both traditional products like car, homeowner, life and health insurance and more specialized policies like pet, travel and wedding insurance. Users can generate lists by entering their zip code and selecting the type of insurance they are looking for, or search for a specific agent by name.

Commissioner Nonnie Burnes said the division plans to launch another site next month to help consumers find the best auto insurance premiums under the state's new managed competition system.
