If you don't know who you want to meet or why, then you may be wasting time attending networking events.
Nancy Cantor, principal with the Dream Factory and Cantor Consulting in Ashland, will lead a two-part women's empowerment series for the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce on July 28 and Aug. 25 at the Bella Costa Ristorante in Framingham, which will cover many aspects of networking, including how to choose the right events to attend. Each session will run from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
"You have to be clear about your target market or the people you want to meet, and then you can plan how you want to meet these people," Cantor said.
To that end, Cantor recommends getting a hold of an event attendee list in advance of the event, if possible. She also says that it pays to get to an event early, so you can watch for the people you want to connect with.
"There should be consciousness to it," she said.
The sessions will also cover how to be visible, credible, and in turn profitable, she said.
Cantor Consulting provides business coaching and consulting. The Dream Factory Community is a group for women entrepreneurs where they can learn new skills and support other women entrepreneurs.
The sessions are $25 per person for chamber members and $35 for non-members.
