Q. How are you settling in at your new office?
A. I am settling into my new job very nicely, largely due to the fantastic support from the staff and administration at Clinton.

Q. What's the biggest surprise you've had in starting the job?
A. The biggest surprise is the ease in working with the administration, and their accessibility. I already knew the Emergency Department staff was superb from working as a staff physician there.

Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?

A. The biggest challenge is renovating the physical space at Clinton Hospital to accommodate the sharp increase in patient volume.

Q. How different is this job from your previous position?
A. The most important difference is the ability to work with the staff and administration as a cohesive team, due to the smaller size.

Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up doing?
A. When I graduated from high school, I figured on being the next Mike Wallace (of 60 minutes); my undergraduate degree is in journalism.

Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?
A. My favorite place for breakfast is Michael's Bridge Diner. It ties with P&S's north shore-style roast beef sandwich for lunch.

Q. What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
A. I absolutely love being a physician, and hope to still being working in the Emergency Department seeing patients. As far as an administrative role, I have always been more interested in making systems work better than in any personal advancement, so I don't have a specific ambition. I plan on working in this area and for UMass Memorial for my entire career, because I feel that this institution is among the great medical centers of the world, and is rapidly improving. I see Clinton Hospital as becoming the gold standard in small community hospitals and I am very proud to be a part of the team.
