Scopic, a custom software development company in Marlborough, has acquired ZoomRadar, a real-time weather data and radar visualization provider.

Scopic acquired the firm, which provides custom radar applications for websites and helps meteorologists access weather data in rural areas, to help deliver weather-related information to businesses and professionals who rely on it, according to a Friday press release.

"ZoomRadar has really made a name for itself when it comes to innovation in weather tech," Scopic CEO Tim Burr said in the press release. "By combining their solutions with our expertise in AI and software development, we're accelerating innovation and delivering smarter, more intuitive solutions for clients across the weather and media industries."

Scopic aims to scale up ZoomRader’s technology and expand its capabilities, continuing a pre-existing relationship with the two firms.

"ZoomRadar was the first interactive radar on the internet, and it was me and Scopic Software together who essentially developed this brand-new type of technology that did not exist before,” Jeff Berardelli, former CBS news meteorologist and climate specialist, said in the Friday press release.

Scopic was founded in 2006 and provides a wide variety of software-related services. The firm has additional offices in Singapore and Australia.
