The Washington, D.C. developer Menkiti Group, which has earned acclaim for its work on downtown Worcester properties, has sold an historic five-story apartment building, known as the Vendome Apartments, at 17 Chandler St. in Worcester for $3.4 million, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds.
The property was bought by an Arlington-based firm owned by Wayland real estate agents David Weinstock and Tanya Weinstock, and a company called WPS Partners LLC registered to an Orlando address.
Both Menkiti Group and the buyers were unavailable for immediate comment on Friday morning.
Built in 1890, the brick building with green iron bow windows contains 22,925 square feet of living area and 44 units, according to the Worcester city assessor's data. It’s assessed at $4,913,300 and last sold in 2013 for $2.4 million to Omodi Properties LLC.
Omodi Properties is registered to the Menkiti Group. The company, led by Founder and CEO Bo Menkiti, has renovated a handful of downtown Worcester properties, including the former Shack’s department store building at 406 Main St. and the 24-unit Chatham Lofts.
