Nonprofit buys former Saint Peter-Marian school site to build 158-unit senior housing

Worcester nonprofit Goddard/Homestead, which provides senior housing, has purchased a 24-acre site on Grove Street in Worcester for $4.75 million, where it plans to construct a new senior living campus, according to a Saturday press release.
The property is located at the former site of Saint Peter-Marian High School at 781 Grove St. It will be developed into 158 senior living apartments in a 150,000-square-foot, three-story building, per the announcement.
There will be 110 units dedicated to supportive independent living, 16 for assisted living, and 32 for memory support. The project is slated to open for residency in late 2024.
Goddard/Homestead closed on the deal Dec. 30, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds. The deal was brokered by Worcester-based real estate firm Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates, Inc.
The nonprofit has two existing locations: Homestead House on Homestead Avenue and Goddard House on Main Street, both in Worcester.
The property at 781 Grove St. was sold by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Worcester. Saint Peter-Marian High School was a private Catholic school which merged with Worcester-based Holy Name Central Catholic High School in 2020 after a drop in enrollment rates.
