The Leapfrog Group, a Washington D.C. based healthcare watchdog nonprofit, has released its biannual Hospital Safety Grade scores, giving one Central Massachusetts hospital an A rating while another received the second-lowest D rating.

The report evaluates hospitals using 30 national performance measures under the categories: infections, problems with surgery, safety problems, practice to prevent errors, and doctors, nurses & hospital staff. Scores are given to nearly 3,000 hospitals across the country, and they are released in the fall and spring.

Milford Regional Medical Center was the only hospital to receive an A rating for spring 2023, which followed the same rating at the hospital in the past six reports.

“The staff at Milford Regional remains steadfast in making certain patient safety is the highest priority,” Edward Kelly, president and CEO of Milford Regional Medical Center and Healthcare System, said in a Monday press release from the center. “The commitment and dedication of our entire staff is the reason we proudly continue to set the highest standards when it comes to our patients’ wellbeing.”
