A Pennsylvania-based pretzel chain will soon open its second Massachusetts location in Worcester.
Philly Pretzel Factory will host the soft opening of its 490 Grafton St. on July 9, followed by a grand opening two days later on July 11. With more than 170 locations throughout the U.S., Philly Pretzel's only other Bay State site is in Revere, according to the eatery’s website.
Founded in 1998, Philly Pretzel specializes in hand-twisted, salted soft pretzels sold individually and in-bulk for large gatherings, according to the chain’s website.
The new shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Philly Pretzel’s grand opening on July 11 will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon followed by kid-friendly activities and giveaways, including a PlayStation 5, with one free pretzel per customer.
Philly Pretzel Owner Nicole Stifnagle looks to partner the Worcester location with local senior centers and Girl Scouts troops to further imbed Philly Pretzles into the community.
“Growing up in Philly, pretzels were everywhere — at school during recess, on street corners, you name it,” Stifnagle said in the release. “They’ve always been my favorite food. In fact, my first job was selling pretzels with my best friend from a little pull wagon around the neighborhood. We’d shout, ‘Fresh pretzels!’ as we went, leaving a salty trail behind us. It was simple, fun, and I’ve loved pretzels ever since.”
