Photo Finish

The Leominster Credit Union donated $40,000 to Clinton Hospital through its partnership program. The gift will fund the renovation of a new triage room in the hospital's emergency department. At the monthly luncheon for the Aleppo Shriners of Worcester County, the Clinton Savings Bank's recycling team donated four gallon containers full of aluminum pull tabs to the Shriners' pull-tab program. The donated tabs will be redeemed at a local recycling center and the proceeds will go to the Shriners' children's transportation fund, which provides medical transportation to children in need. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-3rd District, came to Great Brook Valley Health Center in Worcester to recognize and celebrate the health center's participation in a national children's literacy program called Reach Out and Read. The model of Reach Out and Read is that at every medical visit of a child age 6 months to 5 years, the provider encourages parents to read aloud to their children every day. McGovern read some of the classic favorites such as “Curious George” and “Where the Wild Things Are.”
The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest recently received a significant sponsorship from Akibia, a Westborough-based provider of data center, network, and security solutions. Akibia joins several other businesses as a red carpet sponsor for the organization's annual fundraising event, the 2008 St. Mary's Credit Union Bids for Kids Auction & Gala. The Boroughs Family Branch in Westborough of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the start of construction of the branch's new Wellness Center.
