Springtide Child Development, an autism center with locations in Shrewsbury and across Massachusetts and Connecticut, has been acquired by San Diego-based Cortica, a national autism service provider.

“Springtide and Cortica share the same passion and holistic approach to serve children and families living with autism and neurodevelopmental differences,” Jia Jia Ye, Springtide’s founder and CEO, said in a Monday press release from Cortica. “Our entire organization is energized to come together as one company, enabling us to provide even more services and care to those who depend on us as trusted partners.”

Springtide’s Shrewsbury location opened in April 2022, after Ye started the center in Connecticut to address what she saw as a gap in the healthcare system

Cortica’s purchase of Springtide came after it closed a $75-million financing round led by Deerfield Management out of New York and Optum Ventures, based in London. All Springtide equity has been absorbed by Cortica in the acquisition, according to the press release.

The exact purchase price of Springtide was not disclosed, nor did Cortica say if employees at either company would be impacted.

“We’ve been very impressed with Springtide’s product and clinical quality. Our combination brings together two leaders in whole-child autism care and enables us to extend Cortica’s medical model to Springtide’s centers,” Dr. Neil Hattangadi, co-founder and CEO of Cortica, said in the press release.

Cortica also acquired an Arizona-based pediatric research clinic, the Melmed Center. It now operates 23 integrated autism centers across the country.
