Slow downloads make Kerry a grouchy man

A slow Internet connection may be annoying to some, but to Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., it’s a big problem.

After a recent Congressional hearing on broadband access, Kerry is pushing the Bush administration to change regulations on the broadband industry that would encourage competition between service providers. In particular, Kerry pointed to the need for increased broadband access in his home state of Massachusetts.

“To compete and win in the new global economy, we need a national broadband strategy that encourages competition and expands access,” Kerry said in a press statement.

The congressional hearing included testimony from Douglas Levin, CEO of Black Duck Software of Waltham. He said slow Internet connections are preventing his company from supporting telecommuters.
