Solvus Global, a Worcester-based technology company focusing on advanced manufacturing, has entered into a strategic partnership with EWI, a engineering and technology firm based in Ohio.

This agreement will see EWI establish a presence within the Solvus Global Center for Scaled Innovations in Manufacturing in Leominster, according to a joint press release issued by both companies on Thursday. The partnership will seek to combine EWI’s expertise in additive manufacturing with Solvus Global’s focus on specialized powders used in advanced manufacturing processes to help accelerate advancement in manufacturing-related technologies.

“The synergy between Solvus Global and EWI is a testament to the powerful collaboration that can emerge when innovative organizations come together with complementary expertise,” Aaron Birt, Solvus Global co-founder and CEO, said in the release.

This new partnership could allow both companies to grow their relationships with federal agencies, said Blake McAllister, EWI’s director of engineering and strategic technology.

“The agreement allows both companies to expand their existing efforts towards opportunities within the Departments of Defense and Energy and to enable rapid transition of AM technology,” McAllister said in the release.

Solvus Global’s Center for Scaled Innovations in Manufacturing is a 32,000-square-foot facility the company acquired in 2020 following the receival of a $1.6 million grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The company was co-founded by two Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduates, Aaron Birt and Sean Kelly, in 2019, along with WPI Professor Diran Apelian.
