State Gives $2.5M For Higher Education

Worcester State University, Framingham State University and Quinsigamond Community College were among 18 public higher education institutions that received a combined $2.5 million from the state through a competitive grant program.

The money is part of the performance incentive fund, which is a program within the state's Vision Project - a program that aims to improve the state's public higher education system through innovation.

The awards include:

  • Worcester State, $233,417 for student retention improvement and enhancing transfer procedures with Quinsigamond Community College and Fitchburg State University. It was the largest grant awarded in the program.
  • Quinsigamond Community College, $180,471 to provide math boot camps and enhance the school's STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program.
  • Framingham State, $59,100 for lower-level redesign of STEM courses.
