Technocopia, a Worcester Polytechnic Institute alumnus-founded nonprofit makerspace and incubator in Worcester’s downtown, is recruiting for new board members as part of a board expansion, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Technocopia is a membership-based machine shop and tool share currently serving more than 100 members in the Printers Building, according to the nonprofit. The makerspace was co-founded by Kevin Harrington, WPI alumnus and robotics engineering lab manager at the school.
The nonprofit considers itself not just a place for access to tools and training, but also a place where its members can collaborate and share their ideas and expertise. Technopia reported several of its members have founded limited liability corporations and have gone on to see significant expansion within their own personal businesses.
“With an expansion of our board we hope we may continue to grow and orient members to take advantage of all the offerings our community provides,” said Executive Director Lauren Monroe, in a statement.
Those interested in joining should visit Technocopia’s website and/or reach out to board@technocopia.org. Applications and interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis, with the first board election scheduled for mid-to-late December.
