The Channel Co., a Westborough-based media, event and marketing company focused on the IT industry, is taking direct publication control of CRN Australia, a media company serving Australia and New Zealand.
The move is effective April 1 and will see The Channel Co. take over operations previously managed by Sydney-based NextMedia under a licensing agreement, according to a Feb. 3 press release from the firm.
"This expansion is a big win for our audience readers navigating constant change in the tech channel and our technology vendor partners ready to make meaningful, lasting connections with solution providers in the Australia and New Zealand IT channel market,” Channel CEO Matt Yorke said in the press release.
Yorke, a former executive for Boston-based marketing tech company Foundry, was named CEO of the firm in January 2024.
The Channel Co. has named Athina Mallis as CRN Australia’s editor, according to a Monday press release. Mallis most recently served as managing editor at Gizmodo Australia.
CRN Australia was launched in 1998, providing news and business information for the IT space both print and online. First launched as Computer Retail Week in 1982, the media brand now known as CRN has a presence in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Asia.
The Channel Co. is a portfolio company of New York City-based EagleTree Capital, a private equity firm. EagleTree acquired the firm in November 2021 for an undisclosed amount, according to a press release from the company at the time.
