Niche Hospitality Group, the Worcester-based restaurant group behind businesses like The Fix Burger Bar and Bocado Tapas Wine Bar, is set to open two new restaurants in the city.

Vivienne Coastal Mediterranean Restaurant, a restaurant to be located at the Glass Tower at 446 Main St. in Worcester, and Green Island Oyster Bar, to be located at 90 Harding St., are both set to open this summer, said Mike Covino, president of Niche Hospitality.

Vivienne Coastal is meant to be a blend of cuisines from various countries found along the coast of the Mediterranean, including Greek, Italian, and North African recipes.

Based on the first floor of the Glass Tower, Vivienne Coastal is expected to open by mid-August.

Covino said the restaurant will seat about 230 and employ 40 to 50 people. The space includes high ceilings and a decor inspired by the Mediterranean.

“We're really excited about the concept,” Covino said. “It's different from our Bocado concept, but similar in the sense that it is a little bit more driven around shared plates than your typical restaurant.”

With the opening of the restaurant, Vivienne Coastal will become the official caterer for events held at Top of the Tower, an event space on the building’s 23rd and 24th floors which has an expansive view of Central Massachusetts.

Niche will run a bar to be used at events in the venue and is considering activating the space as a cocktail lounge in the near-future, according to Covino.

Green Island Oyster Bar will be located just a block away from the existing Bocado location in Worcester. Besides the titular oyster bar, the restaurant's menu will include a number of seafood-related offerings, focusing on items like lobster rolls in the summer and wood oven-roasted seafood in the winter.

Green Island Oyster Bar will be located at 90 Harding St., the former site of District Wood Fired Kitchen.

In terms of beverages, the restaurant’s main focus will be an expansive rum selection, featuring over 50 different rums from across the Caribbean.

“It will be a fun place to come in and have some oysters and a goombay smash, or a rum runner, or a Hemingway daiquiri,” he said. “I think it will really add a lot of fun to the city.”

Green Island Oyster bar will seat about 180 patrons and involve 30-40 employees. Covino said the restaurant should be open in June.

Niche Hospitality operates Mezcal Tequila Kitchen in Worcester, Bocado Tapas Wine Bar, with locations in Worcester and Wellesley, The Fix Burger Bar, with locations in Marlborough and Worcester.
