Weekly First-Time Jobless Claims Dip

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 338,000 Americans filed for unemployment insurance benefits for the first time during the week ended Dec. 1.

That is a decrease of 15,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 353,000. The 4-week moving average was 340,250, an increase of 4,750 from the previous week's revised average.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.0 percent for the week ending Nov. 24, unchanged from the prior week's unrevised rate.
