NORESCO, a Westborough-based division of Carrier Global Corp. focusing on energy and water infrastructure, has secured a contract worth $252 million to assist with the modernization of industrial infrastructure at Anniston Army Depot in Calhoun County, Alabama.

The project, undertaken as part of the U.S. Army’s Organic Industrial Base Modernization Implementation Plan, will see NORESCO assist with LED lighting improvements, cybersecurity energy management, and improvements to machinery used to clean and maintain equipment, according to a NORESCO press release issued Wednesday.

“NORESCO is proud to facilitate the Army’s efforts to accelerate implementation of the Army’s OIB Modernization Plan by leveraging performance contracting,” Doug Sattler, senior vice president, federal, NORESCO, said in the press release. “This transformative project will reduce energy consumption, enhance safety and improve productivity with new technologies and production processes.”

Anniston Army Depot is a 25-square-mile maintenance center and munitions storage site, one of 23 Organic Industrial Base facilities in the country, according to a May press release from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Equipment maintained and repaired at the site includes M1 Abrams tanks and Stryker armored fighting vehicles.

The latest contract follows an announcement earlier in July saying NORESCO had secured part of a multi-year energy savings performance contract at a different U.S. Army facility in Alabama. The contract, worth $3 billion and shared among 18 contractors, will see NORESCO assist with energy- and utility-related infrastructure improvements.

NORESCO was founded in 1984 and was acquired by Florida-based Carrier Global in 2008, according to a press release from Carrier at the time.
