Kopin Corp., a Westborough-based manufacturer of optical and electronic display equipment with a large number of defense-related contracts, has announced the upcoming retirement of Rich Sneider, who has served as the firm’s CFO since 1998.
An internal and external search for Sneider’s replacement has begun, with Sneider staying on until his replacement is named, according to a press release from Kopin Corp. on Thursday.
“Rich has played a key role in Kopin’s evolution over his 25 years with the company,” Michael Murray, chairman and CEO of Kopin, said in the press release. “On behalf of Kopin’s Board of Directors and management team, we express our gratitude for Rich’s significant contributions to Kopin and wish him the very best in his retirement.”
A certified public accountant, Sneider spent 16 years employed at Deloitte & Touche LLP, a multinational accounting firm based in the United Kingdom, according to his bio on Kopin’s website.
Founded in 1985 when it was spun out of the MIT, Kopin produces displays and other optical components for industries including defense, enterprise, and consumer products.
The company does a large amount of work with the defense industry specifically, having been awarded an Army contract for anti-aircraft missile eyepiece in June and $4.4 million worth of new contracts and follow-on orders for simulated thermal sights used in armored vehicle training in January 2024.
