Westborough-based optics firm Kopin Corp. has named Erich Manz, a former executive at New Hampshire-based Allegro MicroSystems, as its replacement for retiring CFO Rich Sneider.

Manz most recently served as the business unit CFO at Allegro Microsystems, the global semiconductor firm formerly headquartered in Worcester with a local facility in Marlborough. He spent more than 25 years at Allegro Microsystems, according to a Kopin press release issued Friday.

Manz replaces Snieder, who announced his retirement in May after serving as the firm’s CFO since 1998. Snieder will stay on at Kopin for about three months to assist with the transition. The hiring of Manz came after an internal and external search for candidates.

“We are in the midst of an exciting evolutionary journey at Kopin that can unlock the potential of application-specific optical solutions and high-performance microdisplays,” Michael Murray, chairman and CEO of Kopin, said in the press release. “I am excited to welcome Erich, who brings a depth of financial experience and expertise at publicly traded and high-growth organizations where he held senior finance roles and established a reputation for driving operational efficiency, implementing real-time financial analytics, leading complex financial reformations and enabling strategic growth through data-driven decision-making.”

Prior to working for Allegro Microsystems, Manz worked at Georgia-based mattress manufacturer Serta. He attended Milford High School and graduated from Bryant University in Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Kopin produces optical equipment and digital displays used in defense and industrial settings. It frequently is involved with government contracts related to defense equipment, including being awarded a U.S. Army contract for an anti-aircraft missile eyepiece in June 2024.
