Westborough Wastewater Treatment Plant wins EPA award

The Westborough Wastewater Treatment Plant has been recognized by the nation’s federal environmental agency for its  outstanding record of safe, reliable operations. 

The plant was the only New England plant to receive the 2019 Regional EPA Operation and Maintenance Program Excellence Award, according to  the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's New England Division. The facility is maintained on behalf of the town by Veolia North America, the national firm with a Boston headquarters whose mission is to assist customers manage environmental and sustainability challenges in energy, water and waste.

Employees were hosted on Wednesday at the New England Water Environment Association award’s luncheon at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. 

The facility was nominated by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to acknowledge the outstanding work that has been performed over the years, the EPA said.
