Worcester Academy proposed a 72,000-square-foot athletic complex at the former site of Saint Vincent Hospital on Providence Street in Worcester.

The two-story facility will feature two basketball courts, a swimming pool, locker rooms, and an area for fitness equipment, according to plans submitted to the Worcester Planning Board.

The proposal will be heard by the planning board at its May 3 meeting.

The athletic center will add to the school’s facilities on the former Saint Vincent site, including Morse Field and the Worcester Academy Performance Center, which opened in 2016.

In June, the school received a $20 million donation from commercial real estate developer and businessman Ron Capozzoli Sr. of Florida for capital improvements and a scholarship fund. The school plans to name the new facility after Capozzoli.
