Worcester Community Housing Resources head retiring

The head of Worcester Community Housing Resources, a nonprofit advocate for affordable housing, will retire in January.
Dominick Marcigliano has been the agency's executive director since 2012, overseeing its expansion in lending, development and property ownership across Worcester County. The group, which was created in 1993, says it has one of the largest receivership lending programs in Massachusetts, which Marcigliano has helped grow to work with court-appointed receivers to finance the reconstruction of condemned and abandoned housing.
Marcigliano's retirement comes after 25 years in affordable housing and community development running Worcester Community Housing Resources and Worcester East Side Community Development Corp.
Among Worcester Community Housing Resources' more high-profile projects is Heywood Wakefield Commons in Gardner, a $20-million, 78-apartment assisted living facility opened in a converted mill building. Marcigliano led that project and others, including providing a new home for Ascentria Care Alliance’s Florence House Teen Parenting program for 10 young mothers and their children.
The organization's portfolio includes more than 100 family apartments, lodging-house rooms, and co-housing units, along with three commercial storefronts. It also manages affordable housing portfolios for others, including private developers and faith-based organizations.
