Worcester County Bar Association selects new president-elect

The Worcester County Bar Association picked attorney Leonardo Angiulo as its new president-elect at its annual meeting on June 14. 

Angiulo is a solo practitioner whose work based in Worcester focuses on criminal defense and personal injury. He received the 2020 WCBA President’s Award in addition to appearing on the Massachusetts Super Lawyers List since 2019. 

Attorney Courtney Mayo starts her term as president on Sept. 1. She is a partner in the law firm of Hassett and Donnelly, P.C., in Worcester, where her work concentrates on business and commercial litigation, construction litigation and employment litigation. 

Mayo was marked as a Rising Star in Massachusetts Super Lawyers in 2007-2010 and 2013-2018. She has been on the Massachusetts Super Lawyers List since 2019 and received the WCBA President’s Award in 2019 and 2021.

Anthony Vigliotti was re-elected as secretary/treasurer. He works in a Worcester private practice. He is a former president of the Worcester County Bar Association.

Elected to a two-year term on the executive committee are attorneys: Carl Aframe of Worcester, Ryan Avery of Milford, Kanchana Fernando of Worcester, Lianne Henderson of Worcester, Maria Rivera-Cotto of Worcester, John Shea of Worcester, and Gina Wilson of Fitchburg.

Current WCBA President Geoffrey Spofford presented the WCBA President Awards to attorneys Gina Plata-Nino, Kevin Powers, Russell Schwartz and the law firm of Murphy & Rudolf LLC of Worcester for dedication to the legal profession and service to the WCBA. 

Spofford recognized attorney Michael Angelini’s contribution to the Worcester community, and gave the Worcester County Bar Association’s first Honorable Timothy S. Hillman Judicial Excellence Award to David Despotopulos. It was renamed from the Judicial Excellence Award to demonstrate the WCBA’s appreciation for Judge Hillman and his decision to accept senior status on the United States District Court.
