Worcester drug treatment center expands into Rhode Island
Worcester-based drug and alcohol treatment center operator AdCare has agreed to purchase SSTAR of North Kingstown, R.I., for an undisclosed amount. This would be AdCare’s second location in Rhode Island.
If it receives regulatory approval, the deal would further expand AdCare’s reach beyond its Worcester hospital. The company currently operates outpatient services in Boston, North Dartmouth, Quincy, Worcester , West Springfield and Warwick, R.I..
Immediate plans for the North Kingstown facility include renovations to the building and grounds, as well as increased staffing, according to David Hillis, AdCare Chairman. He said there would be no disruption to services at the facility during the transition.
