Worcester’s Access Fixtures releases cannabis lighting fixture

Worcester lighting manufacturer Access Fixtures is tapping into the multi-billion-dollar cannabis industry, releasing a new high-performance LED light fixture to grow cannabis.

The new product, called the TOAK, is marketed to both novice and experienced growers, the company said Wednesday.

The fixture is more efficient than many other industry lights with a micromoles-per-watt rating of 2.3, the company said. The TOAK’s cost-per-watt ratio is about half that of similar LED lights, translating into about a dollar per watt.

A switch-activated design can turn on bloom mode to encourage flowering using blue spectrum of light, while vegetation mode encourages leaf growth through the use of red spectrum of light.

The fixture can also be used to serve the vegetable market.

In a January interview with WBJ, Access Fixtures CEO Steven Rothschild said the company had been approached by industry professionals and was working to develop a light to serve the cannabis industry.

“We’re a small company so there’s only so many markets to chase simultaneously, but we are pursuing this one,” he said in January.
