Littleton-based Workers Credit Union is launching a construction initiative, updating 11 of the credit union’s 18 locations over the next few years.
The redesign is intended to create more modern, comfortable spaces and to reduce friction in the consumer banking process, according to a July 12 press release from the credit union.
“These initiatives are part of Workers Credit Union’s commitment to reimagining our credit union locations to help our members achieve better financial wellness that improves their daily lives,“ Executive Vice President and Chief Member Experience Officer Elizabeth Hayes said in the press release.
Architecture firm Phase Zero Design of Simsbury, Conn. will lead the design of the project, and Scalora Consulting Group of Ashland will be project manager for the updates.
Locations planned to receive a facelift are in Athol, Gardner, Leominster, Fitchburg, Lancaster, Townsend, Lunenburg, Groton, Westford, Orange, and Chelmsford.
The news comes as Workers announced the retirement of long-time CEO Doug Petersen on Friday after serving with the company since 1995. Jay Champion has joined WCU as interim president and CEO.
Workers Credit Union is the second largest Central Massachusetts credit union, when ranked by assets, according to the WBJ Research Department. As of March 31, WCU had $2.6 billion in assets, more than 124,000 members, and 372 full-time employees.
