Wormtown Brewery will sell its beers outside Massachusetts for the first time in April when a Rhode Island distributor starts delivering the Worcester brews.
In addition to the Rhode Island expansion, Wormtown announced Monday it is expanding distribution of six-pack bottles and 16-ounce cans into the MetroWest and northern Interstate 495 regions, moving beyond its limited draft offerings in those areas.
For the first year, Cranston, R.I. distributor McLaughlin & Moran Co. will only distribute the Wormtown beer on draft. The brewery has been working for two years to grow into the Ocean State, said Wormtown Co-Founder Ben Roesch, whose wife is from Rhode Island.
“It wasn’t easy getting to this point, and I am proud of our team for making it happen," Roesch said in the announcement.
Wormtown, which is based on Shrewsbury Street, will mark its seventh anniversary next month. It moved to the site in 2015 and later doubled its brewing capacity there to 50,000 barrels a year.
