Catholic Charities Worcester County

Responding to the Crisis:

Catholic Charities has continued providing its critical services throughout the pandemic. The numbers of families served during the COVID-19 pandemic have tripled. The need for assistance with food, utilities, and rental assistance has greatly increased as many people are no longer able to work and struggling to make ends meet. In our pantry, we are now serving 40-60 families a day, some days reaching 87 families. Assistance is needed with diapers and personal care items as we are unable to meet the increase in demand.

Future Goals

Successfully implement staff and other resources to assist with the increased community needs as a result of this unprecedented pandemic;

Expand the services we provide in our four regional emergency service offices, particularly the Southbridge and Milford offices;

Begin the much-needed renovation of the Mercy Centre, a program that serves adults with sensory impairments and/or physical limitations;

Expand upon our countywide and beyond very successful home care program;

Strengthen our Parent Aide Program and expand the number of at-risk families we work with in this area of concern;

Continue to pursue grants and other funding sources to increase our ability to work with those in need.
