Lauring Construction has been a part of the business community in Worcester since its founding in 1948 by Raymond Lauring. In 1984, Raymond’s sons, Mark, John, and Jim, took the lead. Under their supervision, the company flourished and focused on commercial projects including educational, religious, institutional and hospitality work in the Worcester region. Today, Lauring Construction is an award-winning general contracting firm that maintains its family-owned-and-operated roots in Worcester County. In 2023, the company celebrated its 75th anniversary and added the third generation – Dan, Mike, and Chris Lauring – as owners.

With 30 employees, Lauring has in-house experts in disciplines such as rough and finish carpentry, excavation and earthwork, and concrete finishing, giving the company an advantage with scheduling and coordinating these trades on projects. The company’s depth of knowledge enables it to better plan for jobs, more efficiently approach and complete projects, and effortlessly adapt to any changes that might occur throughout the construction process.

Located in the heart of Worcester’s Central Business District and owned by Synergy Boston, 446 Main Street is the largest and most recognizable landmark in downtown Worcester. Known as the Glass Tower, the building’s shining glass façade stands out both for its height and the spectacular views that tenants enjoy through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Lauring recently renovated three floors in the Glass Tower totaling 25,000 square feet on behalf of tenants Bowditch & Dewey and Berkshire Blanket.

Over the past 10 years, Lauring has worked closely with Michael Covino, President of Niche Hospitality Group, on over 10 restaurant projects, most recently completing an addition to and renovation of Bocado and the relocation and fit-out of Mezcal.

In 2024, Lauring renovated an existing 10,000-square-foot space by updating bathrooms and the bar, constructing an outdoor dining patio, and making accessibility improvements to create the new home for the Mexican restaurant Mezcal at 11 East Central Street.

For the tapas wine bar Bocado, Lauring renovated a standalone 5,300-square-foot auto mechanic garage located next door and combined it with the existing restaurant located at 82 Winter Street. The project included creating new dining areas, a private dining room, bar, commercial kitchen, bathrooms, and an outdoor dining area with a pergola and infrared heaters for colder-weather dining.

The Lauring team is currently working on the latest Niche restaurant: Vivienne, a new coastal Mediterranean restaurant, which will open in August. The restaurant will seat 230 people in a 12,000-square-foot space located at the base of the Glass Tower. Featuring a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen and an upscale bar area with custom-made millwork, the installation of elements such as arched lattices, imported tile from Italy, and elegant light fixtures will transform the space from its former use as a bank into a fine dining establishment.

With deep personal and professional roots in Worcester County, the team at Lauring Construction is committed to the highest quality and standards in commercial construction and ready to assist you with your next project.
