Mirick is the largest full-service law firm in central Massachusetts. The firm currently has 75 attorneys and offices in Worcester, Westborough, and Boston.
A multi-year winner of the Worcester Business Journal Best of Business award, Mirick is widely recognized for delivering exceptional legal services, a reputation that has been meticulously cultivated over its long history. Mirick’s foundation was built on a steadfast commitment to client service and community engagement; these principles remain the bedrock of the firm to this day.
Adopting a firm-wide client-first philosophy, Mirick has helped businesses and individuals achieve their goals for well over a century. At Mirick, clients appreciate the depth of knowledge and experience that comes with a full-service law firm that prioritizes its clients’ needs. Mirick’s legal team collaborates with clients to develop a strategy that’s the right fit for the client and the client’s business. The firm is committed to innovative thinking, practical solutions, and responsiveness.
The firm boasts strong connections throughout the region and proudly represents some of the largest employers across the Commonwealth, catering to a broad spectrum of clients that includes publicly traded companies, the Commonwealth’s largest hospital systems, private enterprises, family-owned businesses, and individuals from various sectors such as banking, healthcare, manufacturing, education, and construction, to name a few.
The firm recently rebranded from Mirick O’Connell to now simply, Mirick. The new brand is a nod to the firm’s rich history that is true to who it is today and its vision for the future.
Mirick has experienced notable growth across the firm and an expansion of our practice areas over the past few years; however, it remains committed to maintaining its mid-size status, prioritizing strategic expansion while preserving the firm’s collaborative culture and dedication to client satisfaction.
Led by a management committee comprised of Co-Managing Partners Paul Carey and Bob Kilroy, Partner Stephen Madaus, and Chief Operating Officer Diane Power, along with Firm Chairman David Surprenant, Mirick credits its success to its most prized asset, its people. Many of the attorneys have both started and built their entire practice while at Mirick; this speaks to our inclusive, supportive, and collegial working environment.
One of the pillars of the firm is its strong commitment to giving back to the community. Mirick attorneys and professionals give back by serving on boards and committees, coaching community sports, participating in fundraisers, and providing educational programs.
In June 2025, Mirick will launch a month-long, firm-wide “Mirick Gives Back” volunteer program in which members of the firm are encouraged to volunteer throughout the community. The goal is 100 percent firm participation. Projects include stocking food pantries, organizing clothing drives, painting and sprucing up facilities, and supporting Veterans, as well as participating in the Central MA Heart and Stroke Walk and the Lawyers Have Heart 5K. The hope is that this initiative will become an annual signature event for the firm.
