BSX Stent Gets European OK

Natick medical device maker Boston Scientific Corp. has launched a new stent system in Europe and entered into a collaboration with Royal Philips Electronics for the sale of catheterization lab imaging equipment.

BSX launched the stent, sold under the name Innova, after receiving CE Mark approval from European authorities. The product is designed to treat peripheral vascular lesions in arteries above the knee. Boston Scientific is also enrolling patients in U.S. tests to win approval from the Food and Drug Administration.

BSX’s agreement with Royal Philips will allow Philips to sell Boston Scientific imaging equipment in connection with Philips’ Allura Xper cath lab systems. The devices are intended to help doctors diagnose and treat artery and heart problems.
