Carbon Design Lands 14 New Customers In 2012

Acton-based Carbon Design Systems, which offers products to speed up development of system-in-a-chip designs for the wireless, networking and consumer electronics industries, said it saw its sixth consecutive year of growth in 2012.

Carbon, which is privately held and doesn't disclose financial information, said a $4 million investment by Samsung Ventures in September is being used as working capital and enabling the development of new technology.

Rick Lucier, Carbon's president and CEO, said that besides Samsung's investment, the growth his firm experienced this year was also fueled by a product known as a Carbon Performance Analysis Kit, or CPAK, which are pre-built virtual reference platforms for system designers.
