2008 40 Under Forty: Jeff Navin

Jeff Navin

Age: 33

Title: Project Executive

Company: Consigli Construction Co. Inc.

Company location: Milford

Residence: Auburn

Career highlights:

As a project executive with Consigli, I oversee multiple construction projects, consisting of both renovations and new construction, most of which are concentrated heavily in the academic markets. After graduating from WPI, I met Anthony Consigli who offered me a job as a project engineer. From that point forward, I dug in and learned everything I could about construction, our services and clients. Along the way, I was tasked with revamping our approach to recruiting, pre-construction services and project closeout.

Community involvement:

I have several groups that I volunteer with on a regular basis and others that come through opportunities at work. I have cleaned dishes in the Kid’s Café at the Worcester Boys & Girls Club, and helped wrap presents at the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance near the holidays. I have led teams of employees at the American Heart Association’s yearly Central Mass. Heartwalk, and have dished out ice cream at the annual Children’s Friend Ice Cream festival in Worcester.

Biggest professional success:

Consigli’s faith in what I can accomplish has allowed me to play an integral role in their expansion into new markets and in the development of significant projects. I’m proud of the leadership role I’ve been able to take on with some of the region’s most significant academic projects.

Dream job:

Owning and operating a ski resort out west would be at the top of the list.

Businessperson you admire most:

Selecting just one businessperson would be tough as so many leaders have such different qualities. Anthony Consigli would be on the list for his drive, passion and inherent nature of wanting to help improve the lives of others. I also greatly admire my grandfather, a Colonel with the OSS in WWII.

Favorite movie:

Without question, “Caddyshack” or “Gladiator,” depending on my mood.

If you were stuck on a desert island what book would you want to have with you?

I would take “Pivot” by Dr. Alan Zimmerman to keep a positive attitude and I would use “The Station” by Robert J. Hastings as my bookmark. These would help me remember that every day is meant for living to the fullest, and making the most of what life has handed us.
