Career highlights: The everyday highlight of my profession is being entrusted to help those in pain find peace. I started my career as a community support provider in Roxbury, where I worked with the homeless and poverty-stricken. I then became a part of the clinical case management team at The New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Boston. Before opening my private practice in 2006, I worked as a clinical psychotherapist in an adolescent, in-patient, psychiatric unit. In 2009, I added divorce mediation to my clinical practice.

Community involvement: My career has given me a special affinity for children's issues, so I find myself looking to volunteer in schools, for children's charities and for those who have children with special needs. I am raising my children in my hometown and enjoy volunteering for their school and our parish. I also had the pleasure of joining the Shrewsbury Garden Party Committee in 2011.

Biggest success: The growth of my psychotherapy/mediation practice. There are no business courses required to become a licensed professional counselor, so I really started off just “winging it” in the business and marketing aspects of this endeavor.

Biggest challenge: It is such a cliché, but having recently given birth to my third child, my biggest challenge is definitely maintaining a healthy work/home balance. I tend to always feel a little guilty about being wherever I am, and that is hard!

Mentors: Hands down, my dad. He was incredibly bright, ambitious and creative in his business sense. He always encouraged me to do what I had passion for, to believe in myself (even when nobody else did), and to never take myself too seriously.

Hidden talent: I was a bartender throughout college and grad school and can mix a mean cocktail!
