Sales at Framingham-based TJX Cos. Inc. continued to climb in February, as comparable store sales rose 1 percent over last year. Total sales were $1.8 billion, up 7 percent.
CEO Carol Meyrowitz said improved business trends led to same-store sales coming in higher than expected for the month.
"Winter storms in many U.S. and Canadian regions kept customers at home, but we were pleased to see our momentum continue in warmer weather markets," she said in a statement. "Further, our home businesses, which are less weather-sensitive, were strong across the board."
Meyrowitz also noted strong sales for the company's European businesses. In the U.S., the off-price retailer's companies include T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods.
