CMass Firms Recognized For Economic Contributions

Saint Vincent Hospital and Unum in Worcester, as well as Saint-Gobain’s operations in Devens, have been selected as Central Massachusetts finalists in MassEcon’s 2013 Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards.

The three businesses are being recognized for their outstanding contribution to the local economy, according to a statement from MassEcon, a nonprofit organization that works with the state on business development. They, along with 20 other finalists from throughout Massachusetts, will deliver pitches describing their business growth in the state before a panel of judges on Sept. 17 in Boston. Gold, silver, and bronze winners from each region will be announced in October.

Franklin-based Hamilton Storage Technology, which provides storage solutions for the life sciences industry, was also selected as a finalist, representing the Southeast region.

According to MassEcon, finalists were selected based on job growth, facility expansion and investment, and community involvement since Jan. 1. Altogether, the finalists have added 2,400 jobs and invested nearly $250 million in operations here since January 2012, MassEcon said.
