Brazilian company aims to open wax museum in Boston

Property in Boston at One Washington Mall has been leased to the Boston Wax Museum, CBRE/New England said in a release Wednesday.

The realtor said the Brazil-based company behind the museum is leasing 16,516 square feet from The Georgetown Company, and that the museum will occupy both street-level space and a lower level. The location is along the Freedom Trail close to Boston’s City Hall.

Planners are aiming to open in time for the summer 2016 tourist season in Boston, CBRE/New England said.

“We’re very excited about the future of downtown Boston and look forward to welcoming the Boston Wax Museum as an important part of One Washington and the vibrant downtown community,” Jonathan Schmerin, managing principal at Georgetown, said in the statement.

"We are delighted to welcome the Boston Wax Museum to the city," John Barros, Boston’s economic development chief, said in the statement. "Boston is so fortunate to have a wealth of eclectic cultural offerings that complement our rich history. The addition of a wax museum featuring past and present scenes will serve as a great venue to showcase that wonderful mix."

The Boston Business Journal reported last week that the Brazilian company is Dreams Entertainment Group, and the wax museum is the company's its first venture in the U.S.
