2017 WBJ Economic Forecast

Predicting the short-term future isn't terribly difficult. Preparing for it is.

In Worcester Business Journal's annual Economic Forecast special edition, we look back at the trends in the past year and tell you how that will influence the business community for the following year.

In the banking and finance industry, for example, the impending rise in interest rates is sure to reshape a market long dominated by razor-thin margins because of low-interest rates. Knowing that isn't the struggle, as the organizations that will succeed in this new environment will be the ones who adjust fastest and most effectively.

In that vein, we have laid out the major trends you need to know for key Central Massachusetts industries next year:

As for the overall economy, our annual Economic Forecast survey of regional business leaders (which you can find starting on page 4 of the digital edition) shows WBJ readers are more optimistic than ever about the strength of the economy, although they remain wary of how it will impact their organizations, making them reluctant to invest in new ventures.

As we wind down 2016, we hope this market intelligence will better prepare you for making 2017 a productive year.
