Grimes & Co., a Westborough wealth management firm, has reached $2 billion in assets under management, it announced this week.

The company reached the milestone 32 years after it was founded by Timothy Grimes, who is now its chairman.

"Two billion in assets under management is a milestone level that we are proud to eclipse," said Kevin Grimes, Timothy's son, who joined his father in 1998 and is now the company's president and chief investment officer. "We are looking to continue our organic growth track built on providing excellent council, service and performance to our clients."

Grimes & Co. says it was an early adopter of discretionary, fee-based asset management that's standard today, at a time when most investment advice was given by commission-based representatives of larger firms.

The company is an independent registered investment advisor, known as an RIA. It has 32 employees, including 11 certified financial planners and six chartered financial analysts.
