Five Central Mass. companies scored a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index rating workplaces on LGBTQ tolerance.

Hanover Insurance Group, Boston Scientific, BJ's Wholesale Club, Staples and TJX were among dozens of other Massachusetts companies taking home perfect marks.

Hanover's rating is a 10-point increase over last year's score of 90, while the other four companies all scored a 100 last year as well.

French manufacturer Saint Gobain, with a facility in Worcester, scored a 90 on the index, losing 10 points in the Firm-wide Organizational Competency Programs category.

The index rated more than 945 businesses, evaluating non-discriminatory workplace practices, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits and other factors.
