New Hampshire officials celebrate Allegro's groundbreaking ceremony.

Worcester-based Allegro Microsystems has begun a 15,000-square-foot expansion of the company's Manchester, N.H. facility, the company announced Tuesday.

Allegro Microsystems, a manufacturer of high-performance power and sensor semiconductors, expects the project to be completed next summer, according to a press release from the company.

Upwards of 400 workers will be employed at the site, which will serve as the company's center of strategic business development.

The company leases the building and plans to purchase the building in May.

In a statement included in the announcement, New Hampshire Commissioner of the Department of Business and Economic Affairs Taylor Caswell said Allegro's expansion in Manchester can help boost the local economy.

"We are pleased that Allegro has chosen to invest in the Manchester area, and we look forward to their employees enjoying the revitalized mill yards, SNHU Arena, and other benefits of downtown," she said.
