Atlanta rubber latex product manufacturer Vystar Corp. announced Wednesday longtime Worcester-area furniture executive Steven Rotman has been named CEO and the Georgia company will relocate its headquarters to Worcester.

Rotman has been the president and CEO of Rotmans Furniture, one of the largest furniture and carpet retailers in New England for 40 years. He is also the founder and managing partner of NHS Holdings, a company that in 2015 became the exclusive distributor of Vytex natural rubber latex foam in the U.S.

In a statement included in the press release, Rotman outlined a three-pronged approach to revamp Vystar’s strategy, including revising the company’s business model to enhance revenues, pursue acquisitions and add depth to senior management.

“We will be reviewing potential asset purchases to enhance our balance sheet and will be aggressively pursuing innovative new higher margin product lines that can increase Vystar revenue,” Rotman said. “At the same time, we plan to pay off the approximately $3 million in short and long-term debt and payables.”

Rotman will continue to operate Rotman’s Furniture as the president and CEO, Vystar spokeswoman Julie Shepherd said.

The company announced the addition to three new board of directors members, including Rotman and healthcare professionals Joseph Allegra and Bryan Stone.

Vystar, which already operates a warehouse and distribution center in Worcester, said the transition should be seamless.

Shepherd said the company’s offices are the only thing located in Atlanta, but the company’s products are warehoused in Worcester after being manufactured overseas.

The transition is effective immediately, Shepherd said. The company’s offices will locate with NHS Holdings.
