Uber Eats launches food delivery in Worcester

Rather than bringing you to the food, Uber will bring the food to you.
Ride-hailing service Uber’s food delivery service, Uber Eats, started in Worcester on Thursday, the company announced.
According to Uber Eats’ website, 24 Worcester restaurants are participating in the service, including Meze Greek Tapas Bar and Grille, the Vegan Nest Cafe, Compass Tavern, Worcester Sandwich Hut, three Papa John’s Pizza locations and British Beer Co.
To use the service, customers can download an app or use the website to order food from a restaurant and can track the driver all the way from the restaurant to their front door.
The service is currently available in nearly 140 North America cities and dozens of others around the world, including Boston and Providence.
In a statement, Pano Georgiadis, owner of Shrewsbury Street’s Meze Greek Tapas, said his restaurant was thrilled to partner with Uber Eats.
“Partnering with Uber Eats gives us the opportunity to bring our homemade, authentic Greek food right to peoples’ homes for the first time,” Georgiadis said.
