Ace Medical Services to pay $272K for wage violation allegations

Worcester home healthcare company Ace Medical Services and its owners will pay more than $272,000 to settle allegations it failed to pay workers for travel time and keep accurate payroll records.
The amount paid will cover restitution and penalties, including compensation for 240 current and former employees, the state Attorney General’s office announced Wednesday.
Attorney General Maura Healey’s office began its investigation after an employee filed a complaint about the company not paying employees for all hours worked, specifically for time home health aides spent traveling between patient visits.
Many of the aides spent time with two or more patients each day, and the complaint alleged the workers were only paid for time spent with patients.
The investigation revealed Ace Medical Services, headquartered on Madison Street, regularly failed to track all hours worked and all wages paid to home health aides.
