CPI Inches Up In May

The Consumer Price Index increased 0.3 percent in May before seasonal adjustment, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Over the last 12 months the index has fallen 1.3 percent, the greatest decline in the index since 1950. The steep decline was due mainly to a 27.3 percent decline in the energy index.

In May, the energy index increased by 0.2 percent.
