Coastal Medical, a Rhode Island-based physician group, has selected Westborough-based eClinical Works to manage its objectives as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO), according to a statement by eClinicalWorks.
eClinicalWorks, which has already created Coastal Medical's electronic health records system, will implement its Care Coordination Medical Record product to coordinate patient care between providers and payers, as well as improve patient outcomes by monitoring follow-up care.
Approximately 10 percent of Rhode Island's population is treated by Coastal Medical, according to eClinicalWorks. It was named an ACO in 2012 by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, making the company responsible for quality improvement and cost efficiency measures outlined by the Affordable Care Act of 2010.
Coastal Medical Chief Operating Officer Meryl Moss said the company has had "great success" improving quality of care my implementing new technology, including eClinicalWorks' systems.
