EMC In Talks With Israeli Firm

Hopkinton-based EMC Corp. is close to a $400-$450 million acquisition of Israeli data storage company XtremIO, according to a report from the Israeli business publication Globes.

Globes reports that EMC executives have been in talks with the company, which also has a California office, since December. Other companies, including Waltham-based NetApp Inc., have also been talking with XtremIO, according to the publication.

XtremIO focuses on using flash memory, rather than hard disk drives, for storage. It was founded in 2009, and, according to its website, is now undertaking field trials in the U.S., Israel and Europe in preparation for a general launch of its products.
