Fitchburg Firm Wins Vietnam Contract

TerraTherm Inc. of Fitchburg has been awarded a contract to aid in the cleanup of contaminated soil and sediment at an airport in Vietnam, the company announced.

The company will design a thermal remediation system that will treat about 95,000 cubic yards of soil at Da Nang Airport that has been contaminated by dioxin. The design is expected to be completed by August. The U.S. Agency for International Development awarded the contract.

The airport is one of the major sites remaining that stored and handled the chemical defoliant known as Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. The goal of the cleanup is to better protect the health of nearly 800,000 nearby residents.
