Framingham Firm Wins $6.6M Utah VA Contract

Ameresco Inc., the Framingham-based energy efficiency contractor, has been awarded a $6.6 million contract to design and build a solar power system for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The project includes a mix of roof-top and ground-mounted solar panels installed at seven facilities on the VA campus.

Energy savings resulting from the installation will free up money for the operation and maintenance of the medical center. The project also helps the VA comply with the federal Energy Policy Act, which directs federal agencies to increase their use of renewable energy.

Construction is expected to begin early in 2011 and will take an estimated 10 months to complete.
